Who am I?
I am Jenny, and I grew up in the Romsey area. I went off to University at Winchester School of Art where I studied Graphic Arts. In my final year, I introduced textiles into my projects and grew a love for textile arts.
I fell into dressmaking after university and have been making my own clothes for over 10 years.
Although I have made a few quilts (mostly baby quilts), my passion is dressmaking and textile art.
I am not one for chucking waste away and like to make the most of the fabric I have. In recent years, I have enjoyed learning about Zero Waste patterns and experimenting with using my scraps in different creative ways.
My obsession for creativity doesn’t stop at sewing; I will give any craft a try. In the past I have tried knitting, screenprinting, willow weaving, jewellery making, raku pottery, stained glass and even artistic blacksmithing!
Outside of sewing and crafting, I love heading out on cycling adventures. I’ve pedalled across various parts of the UK and France solo and with friends.
Who is my Sewing Assistant
This is Moss. He is a Labradoodle who has been keeping us company since we got him in December 2020. Thankfully, his breeding means he is a small Lab-Poodle cross, but has the ability of a large labradoodle to take up lots of space!
His name comes from the TV character “Maurice Moss” from The IT Crowd (Channel4) played by Richard Ayoade. As a puppy he has dark brown curls just like the character. It is also why I often refer to him as IT or Tech Support.
Moss thrives on eating/shredding cardboard, sitting on fabric like a pattern weight and curling up on the sofa next to me.
He will bark on your arrival, but with a bit of petting, he will be your best friend. He will be kept out of the sewing room during classes.
