What is low-waste sewing pattern?
A sewing pattern where as much of the fabric is used to create an item. Patterns are designed to reduce the amount of waste leftover, which might otherwise be thrown away. In some cases, patterns can be zero-waste where every part of the fabric is used.

The Basket Pattern

  • Reusable as gift bags, or storing items

  • It is a lined basket, either with the same or a different fabric

  • Multiple options for different closings, or keep it as an open basket

  • Easy to scale the pattern to different sizes (basic maths required)

  • A great basic which can be made unique with your own creativity

  • No paper pattern pieces

  • No overlocking required - straight stitch only.

What will I learn?

  • Basic concept of Low or Zero Waste patterns

  • How to adapt a basic pattern with different finishes

  • How interfacing might influence the finish of the bag/pouch/basket

  • How to make a reusable gift bag or basket!
