Donny Shirt Classes

£150.00

Are you interested in making a shirt pattern?

The Donny Shirt by Friday Pattern Company is the perfect pattern to begin shirt making without the scariness of buttonholes or plackets.

Jenny will guide you through the trickier steps so you can leave with a completed shirt. You might even have ideas for future versions - dress hack, button hack or maybe buy the sleeve extension pack!

The session will only cover the original short sleeved pattern.

What skill level should I be?

This class is aimed at a confident beginner. This is someone who is happy using straight stitch and zig-zag on your machine. You have basic experience or understanding of dressmaking terminology, but you do not need loads to be able to do this class. If you aren’t sure, please get in contact.

Anyone with more experience is also welcome to the class.

The Pattern

The boxy shirt features a lapel collar, patch pocket and back yoke. A smart-casual which can be dressed up or down depending what you pair it with. Check out people’s Donny’s on Instagram for inspiration!

“The pattern is designed for woven fabrics. Any sort of light to medium weight woven is suitable. If you choose a fabric like a mid-weight twill or denim you will get a more structured top. If you choose a drapier fabric like a rayon challis or silk, you will get a blousier top.” Friday Pattern Co.

If you aren’t confident or sure about fabric choice, an old duvet will work brilliantly for a toile (mock-up) - my first Donny was a floral bed sheet!

Jenny will provide fabric requirements when you sign up so you can choose your own fabric to bring along for the workshop. Please wash your fabric before the first class.

Students will be provided a paper copy of the pattern and the instructions as part of the course.
